To provide you with a guide to the level of skill required to stitch our needlework kits, we have tagged each design with one of three symbols as follows:
|
|
BEGINNER
Easy - No needlework experience is required. If you can thread a needle and sew on a button, you can stitch these designs. If the projects are counted cross stitch they are usually smaller designs, are almost always worked on Aida fabric, often include a relatively small number of thread colours, and generally feature clearly defined blocks of colour.
Most stamped cross stitch, printed counted cross stitch and needlepoint projects fall into this category, because the designs are already printed onto the fabric or canvas.

INTERMEDIATE
Moderately easy - Some stitching experience is advantageous.
Most of our counted cross stitch designs are for intermediate stitchers. These projects are generally mid to large size and are worked with a wide selection of thread colours. Mostly they are stitched on Aida fabric, and have some background areas left unstitched.
Beginners, however, should not be discouraged by this tag if they really like a design, because cross stitch isn’t difficult. You just need to love what you are doing and possess a little patience.

EXPERIENCED
Challenging - For the committed needleworker.
These counted cross stitch projects are not for the faint-hearted! They require a lot of patience and motivation because they are complex projects using many thread colours to achieve a finely detailed work of art.
Most counted cross stitch designs tagged for the experienced needleworker include a fully stitched background. And because the fabric is more difficult to work with, projects worked on linen often fall into this category.
